My garden here is small, but I find it is a special place to enjoy some relaxing moments and unwind. It’s planted to attract bees and butterflies, and is mostly a ‘kitchen garden’…
What is a “Kitchen Garden”?
It’s a cross between a french-style Potager – laid out on a formal grid of beds and low hedges, with paths in between – and a more informal vegetable patch. With practicality in mind, it is kept close to the backdoor so that fruit, vegetables and herbs are easily accessible for the kitchen all year round.
The contents of the beds are never static… they evolve through the year, ebbing and flowing with what’s in season.
The kitchen garden provides a few moments of tranquility and reflection, encouraging us to slow down and regain a connection with food and nature… something often missing in an otherwise hectic world.
